Here are some of the questions Room 13 interviewers asked them.
Daniel: Do you like your job?
School Patrollers: Yes we do.
Caspar: Is your job hard or easy ?
School Patrollers: It can be very hard when it is cold and raining. We also have to wake up early to get here before the other children come in. We stay late after school when the children have left for home.
Denziel : Which year did you train ?
School Patrollers: When we were Year 5s.
Jacob: Why do you wear the orange vest?
School Patrollers: :Cars need to see us so we wear bright coloured vests and it is our uniform.
Lucas: Is it fun?
School Patrollers: : Yes
Tegan : Why do you put your arm out?
School Patrollers: : So children know whether they can cross or not.
Beth: Do you need a loud clear voice?
School Patrollers: : Yes so we can be heard when we say our instructions.
Room 13 went across to Arahoe Road with Constable Carl for a Road crossing drill with the School Patrollers on duty.
What we learnt............
Tara: We need to look left and right when crossing the road to check for cars even when we are with an adult.
Kayla: School Patrollers say the magic word " cross now".
Symphony: When you are on your bike and you have to cross the road, you need to get off your bike and get on after you have finished crossing the road.
Jack: When you want to cross the road and the School Patrollers are not around you need to hold an adult's hand.
Constable Carl asked us a very important question: When you are in the car do you sit in the front or at the back.?
Dylan - The back is the safest because in the front there are air bags which could come out and hit you if you crash.
